I’m going to Bali in my mind
Though, I really can’t complain because I’m preparing to go on vacation to the beach for a whole week all I’ve been able to think about lately is Bali (I mean when I’m not consistently watching shark week). God, I need to go there so bad. At the same time it’s also a concern that if I go, I may never come back. Seriously! I’ll just let these pictures do the talking…
That said, I’m off finish packing so we can relax & enjoy mango margaritas around the corner from our place tonight.

case of the Fridays
Laaaaame! So when most other (normal) people in the world are at work, I’m not and vice versa. Normally I don’t mind because in trade I don’t have to work that much and I really like the place I work. But today…I really just wish I didn’t have to work on a Friday. Because I just got this really darb* retro bathing suit in the mail (finally!) and I want to take it to Pony Pasture, Hadad’s Lake, or Cobblestone’s Park. I just want to play.

My brother has balls … (duh)
and I can hold a razor. After my family’s sizable party in the country which included a pig roast, visits from old friends, tents, mint juleps, camp outs, a homemade slip and slide and a trip to the ol’ hospital due to the homemade slip and slide, the end result the next morning was this:
Reason number 127,768,431 I love my brother! And he’s been staying with us for the past couple days so last night we went to the races!
…it was my brother’s first (surprisingly)
and my first big victory! I’ve learned my lesson…don’t listen to anyone, because apparently I have it relatively figured out, I won 5 out of the 7 races I bet on! Not including the double bet I placed in one, I’m thinking, it might be about time for me to start playing with more than two bucks a race.

I like the smell of fireworks
Well, it’s a national holiday today and though I’ve already done my celebrating with my family I’m still a little bitter about having to work today even though I may get to go home early. But what can you do? Right now we’re watching the national Hot Dog Eating Contest on ESPN…you heard me. Some of the announcers have said things like, “this is the greatest moment in sports history!” and, “he is a true American hero!” & “tomorrow morning if you google American hero you’ll find Abe Lincoln and Joey Chestnut” (about the winner). I also noticed in the background that one of the girls holding up the score cards or something was a contestant from America’s Next Top Model. Wow, she really has made it in this world. Tyra really does make dreams come true doesn’t she?
Hopefully I’ll get off work in time to catch the fireworks, but if I had it my way I’d be in the James River right now.

I love 821 Cafe…what do I love even more? 821 Cafe….delivered! I had forgotten about that and the fact that they serve breakfast until 5pm everyday! On days like today when I work from 6:30pm to 2:30am serving others food and then cocktailing right afterwards it can be very exhausting to do a lot of cooking or run any errands during the day before I do all that. And today I didn’t even have to leave my front door to do all that. What a life saver!
The only thing that I wonder about now is, when I used in Oregon Hill and on Floyd I went there all the time but then they stopped making those o-so-perfect banana pancakes. Does anyone know if they still make them?

midweek amusements
On my way home from my dad’s house Sunday I saw this thing speeding down the highway. Hey..I calls ‘em like I sees ‘em. Heffalumps and woozles anyone?
In other “news” we’ve officially organized Boulevard Bad Movie Club! About 1/3 of us gathered last night in our living room & we watched Dog Soldiers (yes, you heard me right). It could be summed up in about two quotes:
“Wait a minute, you’re not really serious with this werewolf stuff, are you?………..Shit!!!”
“Dogs?! More like pussies!”
Then we attempted to watch Man-Thing until we saw the opening credits & the movie was a Lions Gate film…way too legitimate to be bad. All in all I’d call it a fairly successful get together, I mean after all how much fun is allowed to had on a Wednesday night?

birthdayness
In celebration of my birthday we went to Metro Richmond Zoo, because both Alex and I had to work on my birthday. Richmond really does have a lot to offer, look how much fun you can have, kids, without having to leave Richmond!
After that we found a nursery on the side of the road and I bought a hanging fuchsia plant. Then later we went to see Knocked Up (directed by the guy who did The 40 Year Old Virgin) which was really fun.

when the lights go out
I love storms, love them! And we really had ourselves one yesterday so much so that the power when out for blocks. My favorite thing to do when you get a good storm is to watch it all go down on the porch, and that’s just what we did but not our porch-the neighbors. Next thing you know everyone from our building who we never met is all gathered under this little area offering up whatever kind of beers we each had in our fridges, it was really fun. We all hung out there for about two hours telling random stories about the building and weird neighbors..and to think we all had never met before. You never know what fun you can have sometimes with out ever having to leave your house.
Go meet your neighbors. Thank me later.

I love her. My favorite potty mouth, she is the ultimate bad girl. And if it were up to me there would be an award for Biggest Balls of 2007…and it would go to two people: Sarah Silverman & Steven Colbert.
While I’m being random, if you didn’t know by now..
I’m even blonder now and I chopped all it all off. Well most of it. I’ve been doing very girlie things lately and I love it.
